Job Summary:This role provides leadership and direction to the BU in regards to Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Process
RequiredEducation and Experience:
- College diploma and/or combination of Grade 12 with minimum 5 to 7 years of hands-on Supervisory experience in a related field
- Good working knowledge of press shop, stamping operations and welding
- Must have experience in initiating and implementing lean manufacturing tools;
Kaizen, 5S, etc. - Excellent English Communication Skills (oral and written)
- Advance knowledge of computer skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong leadership and problem solving skills.
- Good understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
- Planning, developing, initiating, and monitoring lean projects across multiple functions to improve productivity; communicating on defining strategies results and accomplishments.
- Tracking financial results and reports on quantifiable goals and objectives; estimating future projects from financial, throughput, lead-time and on-time performance improvements to assist in the prioritization of projects.
- Integrate lean continuous improvement principles, values, philosophies and tools for driving improvement. Provide remote or direct support.
- Identify opportunities for waste reduction in business and manufacturing processes
- Creating and conducting training programs; training and mentoring future lean employees; educating plant personnel on lean methodology and identifying the best projects for implementation
- Presents, facilitates and leads assigned Lean Manufacturing events using methods of culture-appropriate team building, team energizing, data gathering and analysis, problem solving, project management and state of the art presentation and platform skills
- Seeks and evaluates process improvement and Lean Enterprise information, materials, and methods to match specific organizational needs as outlined by management, and adapts them to use in the execution of process improvement events.
- Participates in and coordinates the development of event Charters and scheduling of the events. Works with departmental management to assure appropriate participation and support. Assists in locating and reserving meeting locations and coordinating the delivery of services and materials necessary for a successful event.
- Provides event follow-up to monitor the progress of planned improvement implementation to assure timely action, appropriate management support, and achievement of expected benefits. Uses appropriate measurement, analysis and evaluation methods to accurately identify and document process improvements
- Develops reports of overall Lean Manufacturing activities including accomplishments, participation, projected activities, and anticipated needs.
- Coordinates with related departments and functions to assure appropriate information flow and understanding of overall process improvement direction
- Be involved in the annual business planning and budgeting of the manufacturing plant within assigned region
- Demonstrate the ability to challenge the status-quo and encourage break-through thinking to ensure Lean Manufacturing principles are implemented.
- Ensure LPA is performed as per schedule, follow up to close all outstanding issues within a reasonable time frame
