Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

This role leads simulation and digital twin development for a critical defense manufacturing program, using Siemens Tecnomatix to design and analyze digital production environments that support modernization and digital engineering objectives. The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer evaluates products within multiple facility layouts, runs production simulations, identifies bottlenecks, analyzes capacity constraints, and develops manufacturing strategies that optimize production performance. The position collaborates closely with internal teams and customer stakeholders to establish robust digital manufacturing environments and drive data-driven production planning and execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop initial production envelopes and manufacturing concepts that align with program objectives and production constraints.
  • Create, configure, and maintain production digital twin models using Siemens Tecnomatix to represent complex manufacturing systems.
  • Conduct discrete event simulations to evaluate production performance, validate concepts, and support operational decision-making.
  • Perform line balancing and capacity analysis to ensure efficient use of resources and to meet throughput and takt time targets.
  • Identify production bottlenecks, evaluate alternative shift and staffing scenarios, and recommend improvements to optimize flow.
  • Develop virtual commissioning planning approaches that enable verification and validation of manufacturing systems before physical deployment.
  • Configure digital production environments, including layouts, process flows, and equipment models, to reflect current and future-state operations.
  • Establish digital production architecture baselines that define standards, structures, and integration points for digital manufacturing systems.
  • Develop product, process, quality, execution, and genealogy data models to support traceability, analytics, and continuous improvement.
  • Support configuration management and release workflows to ensure digital models and simulations remain accurate, controlled, and up to date.
  • Establish foundations for work order execution within digital environments to enable reliable, data-driven production planning and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, operations, and customer teams to translate manufacturing requirements into actionable simulation models.
  • Use simulation results and analytical insights to influence manufacturing strategy and guide implementation across multiple facilities.
  • Prepare and present findings, recommendations, and technical documentation to customer stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
