Ebu Metrology Technician
The EBU METROLOGY TECHNICIAN is responsible for conducting precise dimensional inspections and measurements using CMM's, tactile and optical roughness systems, and microscope evaluation to ensure that components meet engineering specifications. This role requires a high understanding of GD&T, interpreting 2D drawings and 3D models, plus collaborating with engineering teams thought the global organization.
This position will also involve major programming of CMM and Adcole equipment and minor programming of all other laboratory instruments. The operator will support development, production, and engineering teams by providing timely and accurate inspection results.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute measurement programs for prototype, launch, and final inspections.
- Interpret 2D drawings, with strong proficiency in GD&T.
- This work requires a high understanding of computer software and propulsion parts
- Operate measurement equipment and software from suppliers Keyence, Zygo, Adcole, PAT, Hommel and Ziess .
- Ensure proper testing of calibration and maintenance on lab equipment.
- Document and communicate inspection results, including detailed reports and measurement data.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve dimensional nonconformities and provide recommendations for process improvements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in the inspection process and equipment
- Adhere to quality control standards and regulatory requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent; technical certification in Quality or related in the field experience preferred
- Minimum 2 years of metrology lab experience including programming and operation of measurement instruments
Proficiency:
- Strong GD&T interpretation skills.
- Knowledge of CMM machines and related metrology equipment.
- Experience interpreting 2D and 3D drawings.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and Share Point
- Complete understanding of metric system including microns and nanometers
- Automotive component knowledge and basic functions – cylinder, piston, valve train, gears, transmission, bearings, pumps, and more
- Manufacturing/Quality experience:
Minimum 3 years in a quality-focused role within an automotive environment.
Problem-solving:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing measurement issues.
Flexibility:
Ability to work varied schedules as needed, including overtime or weekends.
Attention to detail:
High level of accuracy and a commitment to precision in measurements and reporting.
