Residential Painter

Our painters perform a variety of tasks such as assembling scaffolding, surface preparation, sanding down old paint, filling in drywall holes, mixing paint colors, and painting homes and businesses. The ideal candidate should be comfortable talking with clients to understand their needs.

Ideally, you have experience with a variety of paint surfaces and materials, and are comfortable using hand and power tools to get the job done.

• Communicate with clients to determine their needs and advise them on the right approach
• Use job specifications to mix and match paint and stains
• Prepare surfaces for painting by filling holes and cracks with putty and sanding
• Treat painted surfaces with primer or sealer
• Cover trim, fixtures, furniture, and floors to protect them from paint
• Protect trim, floors, fixtures, and furniture from paint using drop cloths and covers
• Repair small drywall patches
• Maintain a neat and tidy work area

• Applicants that are detail‑oriented and possess strong time management and communication skills are preferred
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Knowledge of basic painting materials and tools is preferred, but training will be provided
• Driver’s license required
• Preference for candidates with 2+ years work experience and completed apprenticeship, but not required
• Must live within 50 miles of Auburn Hills, Michigan, to be considered for this position
• Minimum 1-2 years of professional painting experience (residential and/or commercial preferred)
• Strong knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, and proper use of brushes, rollers, and sprayers
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, ladders, and scaffolding
• Experience with drywall patching, sanding, caulking, taping, and priming surfaces
• Understanding of different paint types and finishes, including interior/exterior applications
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to follow job site safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various conditions
• Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Strong communication skills and professionalism when interacting with clients and coworkers
• Willingness to work a consistent full‑time schedule year‑round
