Embedded Software Engineer – Combat Vehicle Systems

Onsite in Auburn Hills, MI U.S. Citizenship and the Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance required

We are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and testing of embedded software for advanced military combat vehicle systems. You will work across the full software lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through implementation, verification, integration, and vehicle-level testing. The position also supports cybersecurity, Dev Sec Ops , model-based engineering, hardware/software integration, and military C5

ISR systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, integrate, and maintain embedded software for military combat vehicle platforms
  • Develop secure vehicle software using Agile, Dev Sec Ops , and rapid-prototyping methods
  • Create software requirements, specifications, algorithms, logic flows, activity diagrams, and UML/SysML models
  • Perform modeling, simulation, analysis, and trade studies to evaluate system performance and technical alternatives
  • Develop and integrate drivers, applications, kernels, containers, and virtual-machine environments
  • Support software verification, validation, configuration management, and system integration
  • Integrate lethality, survivability, communications, cybersecurity, and C5

    ISR capabilities into vehicle platforms
  • Support CPU-, GPU-, ARM-, x86-, and FPGA-based architectures
  • Participate in component, subsystem, prototype, System Integration Laboratory, Hardware-in-the-Loop, and full-vehicle testing
  • Review test plans, analyze results, troubleshoot software and hardware issues, and implement corrective actions

    Collaborate with customers, suppliers, international partners, and cross-functional engineering teams
  • Support proposal development, capture activities, contract execution, delivery planning, and international technology transfer
Required Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • 15+ years of embedded software engineering and systems integration experience preferred
  • Strong experience with:
    Embedded C and C++, Linux, Real-Time Operating Systems, UML and SysML, Model-based software development, Software lifecycle processes, Verification, validation, configuration management, & integration
  • Experience with tools such as Git, Jira, Confluence, Cameo, Kubernetes, CANoe, MATLAB, and Simulink
  • Experience with communication and vehicle-network protocols, including: J1939 CAN Bus, RS-422/485, Ethernet, TCP/IP, UDP, DDS, Multicast, Display Port, HDMI, HD-SDI
  • Experience supporting x86, ARM, GPU, and FPGA systems
  • Working knowledge of digital, analog, power, and RF electronics
  • Understanding of vehicle power-distribution systems, automotive power management, and Power Distribution Modules
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, function generators, network analyzers, and spectrum analyzers
  • Ability to travel internationally as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related engineering or technical discipline
  • Experience delivering large-scale U.S. Department of Defense ground-vehicle programs
  • Familiarity with U.S. Army ground-vehicle requirements and acquisition processes
  • Knowledge of TACOM, TARDEC, or GVSC organizations.
  • Experience with military C5

    ISR, fire-control systems, stabilization systems, coordinate transformations, or advanced control algorithms
  • Familiarity with VICTORY, FACE, GCIA, or Modular Open Systems Approach standards
  • Knowledge of military standards, defense regulations, and vehicle compliance requirements
