CDL Shuttle Driver

Summary

The CDL Shuttle Driver is responsible for safely operating a company vehicle in the daily delivery of customer products. They will transfer furniture and be required to load goods properly, efficiently, and safely onto trucks to be transported to our stores. The driver must follow all safety rules, State/Federal driving laws, and all company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include unloading goods at stores in a respectful, efficient manner, picking up floor sample goods to return to the DC prior to delivery, properly wrapping and padding floor sample goods to avoid damage, and identifying and tagging them according to product model numbers.

The driver must exercise safety in all facets of the job, from lifting to operating a vehicle, while providing outstanding customer service to our stores.

• Maintain a valid CDL A driver’s license and DOT medical card in good standing while operating a company vehicle.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and State/Federal laws, conducting a pre‑trip inspection each time prior to taking a vehicle on the road and reporting safety concerns promptly.
• Securely load a delivery/semi‑truck according to the manifest and pack the product to prevent damage during transport.
• Lift and move furniture and mattresses safely from the dock to the truck, the truck to the store back room, and back again if required.
• Follow all invoice instructions electronically or via paper and report any concerns to management.
• Verify delivery and pick‑up manifests to ensure proper movement and inventory accuracy.
• Communicate with the transfer manager and store manager regarding any discrepancies between what is expected to be delivered/picked up and what is on the manifest.
• Always maintain the cab of the truck in a clean and professional manner.
• Conduct a pre‑trip inspection of the truck prior to operating the vehicle and never operate a vehicle with a safety concern.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but is able to provide guidance to back‑room stock personnel to ensure proper protection of goods returning to DC. Communication with management is key to ensuring proper systematic and physical inventory movement.

This job operates in a warehouse and dock environment while operating a delivery truck during deliveries. The role routinely uses tools to aid in furniture movement and protection. The dock temperature varies by season and is poorly insulated due to all dock doors being open during load out. The position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions.

The employee must safely operate a company vehicle. They are occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 150 pounds or move with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Possess a valid CDL A driver’s license.
• Ability to safely operate a 53‑ft. semi truck and trailer.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Prior experience driving a commercial vehicle is preferred.

• Possess a valid CDL A license in good standing.

The shift for this position is 12:00 am‑7:00 am and is a full‑time position. Shifts may vary based on the needs of the business. Once a route is assigned, the expectation is that the work shift is not over until the final delivery is completed. Overtime may be required based on the needs of the business.
