Overview
Auburn University Libraries seeks applicants for a Student Assistant position in the Resource Sharing unit. The selected student must be available to work during the unit’s hours of operation:
Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. This role supports faculty, staff, and students by assisting with the daily operations of the unit. Student assistants may work up to 20 hours per week, based on operational needs.
- Retrieve books and journals from library stacks
- Check materials out to partner institutions using Voyager (library management system)
- Update Resource Sharing and Document Delivery requests in ILLiad (transaction system)
- Scan journal articles for Resource Sharing and Aubie Express (Auburn users)
- Process articles available through Auburn Libraries’ electronic databases
- Package materials for shipment via UPS and Fed Ex
- Open and sort incoming packages, including borrowed and returned materials
- Check returned items into Voyager and update corresponding records in ILLiad
- Use microfilm/microfiche reader-scanners to create PDF documents for electronic delivery
- Answer phones in a professional manner when needed
- Enrolled student at Auburn University
- Must provide detailed availability for each day of the week within library operating hours

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform tasks that may include standing, walking, reaching, and handling materials
- Ability to occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 15 pounds
