Job Description: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a non‑tenure‑track teaching faculty member— instructor, assistant professor, or associate professor—to deliver excellence in teaching of required and elective courses in the ECE undergraduate and/or graduate programs and participate in departmental service activities. The role may include advising ECE students, establishing and managing mentoring programs, and outreach, with a focus on electronics, analog and digital design, power systems, and software engineering.
This is a non‑tenure‑earning, nine‑month appointment; summer teaching assignments and pay may also be available depending on the courses taught. Support for the department’s research activities may provide summer funding. The successful candidate will engage in continuous professional development in teaching methodologies and discipline.
Required Qualifications: • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related area. • Teaching experience in ECE courses.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference to candidates with college‑level teaching and research experience and a record of innovative, high‑impact teaching practices. The ideal candidate would also have at least 3 years of experience with teaching, academic advising, mentoring, and student‑retention programs.
