Job Description
Overview:
The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture (APLA) at Auburn University is inviting applications for two Visiting Assistant Professor positions in Architecture. These positions focus on teaching design studio and seminar/lecturer courses, beginning in August 2026.
APLA has a 118‑year history of educating architects, interior architects, landscape architects, and planners. The school contributes to the region and the profession through outreach, scholarship, and creative work. APLA offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Environmental Design, and Landscape Architecture, and is part of the College of Architecture, Design and Construction.
We seek candidates whose design research and practice are grounded in architectural innovation. Candidates should have a strong teaching and research interest in one or more of the following areas: fabrication technologies; materials research; environmental controls; building systems/performance; sustainability; high‑performance assemblies; or resilience.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate architecture studios, lecture courses, and/or seminars/workshops related to advanced architectural design courses.
- Develop and maintain an active program of scholarly and/or creative work within the discipline.
- Contribute to the academic community through teaching, research, outreach, and service.
- Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Required Qualifications. Candidates must hold a PhD, Master of Architecture, Master of Science in Architecture, or a Bachelor of Architecture plus a terminal degree in a related field at the time of employment. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and continue working legally for the term. Auburn University is an EEO/VET/Disability Employer.
Desired Qualifications. Demonstrated ability to teach design studio and related courses in a professional degree program; evidence of outstanding design skills; evidence of research/creative scholarship or the ability to develop and maintain an active research/creative scholarly program; holding a professional license in Architecture; or completion of the AXP program requirements.
