Overview
Auburn University Libraries is seeking applicants for the position of Student Assistant to support communications and outreach efforts for Alabama Mosaic and other digital scholarship projects. Alabama Mosaic is a single-site search index that provides access to digital archives collections from institutions across Alabama. The ideal candidate will have an interest in digital humanities, an interdisciplinary field that combines humanities research and sources with computing skills, technologies, and methods.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop a portfolio of professional and public-facing writing while gaining practical experience in communications for a statewide digital scholarship initiative.
The selected student may work up to 10 hours per week, depending on operational needs. Work hours are scheduled between 7:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities- Creating social media posts to engage project partners and site users
- Producing content for a quarterly newsletter to regularly connect Alabama Mosaic partners with the project
- Assisting with the development of search training for the Alabama Mosaic index and updating text on the site for clarity
- Assisting with web design tasks for Alabama Mosaic and other digital projects at AU Libraries
- Other duties as assigned
- Currently enrolled student at Auburn University.
- Must provide detailed availability for each day of the week within library operating hours.
- Demonstrated interest in public service and providing high-quality customer service
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while interacting professionally with faculty, staff, and students
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Demonstrated dependability with consistent attendance and punctuality
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with or interest in English – Professional and Public Writing, Communications, and/or Journalism
