Overview
The Auburn University Water Resources Center is seeking an Instructional Outreach Programs Administrator. The individual selected for the position will provide leadership to the AL Cooperative Extension System’s AL Private Well (PWP) and Alabama Drought Reach (ADR) Programs. The selected individual will plan, coordinate, and deliver educational programs that will prepare private well owners to protect their drinking water, and will increase drought literacy and preparedness.
Additionally, the individual selected for this position will support other WRC extension programs including AL Water Watch (AWW), 4-H AWW, AL Watershed Stewards (AWS), and the AL Water Resources Conference. This is a three-year limited-term position. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funding.
The mission of the Auburn University Water Resources Center is to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration among Auburn University faculty and staff on water-related research, outreach, and instruction; conduct innovative research to find practical solutions for current and future water issues and empower private citizens to become active stewards of water resources.

Responsibilities- Respond to client inquiries regarding drought conditions and drinking water issues, including assisting with the interpretation of drinking water test results.
- Compile, expand, and distribute weekly drought survey data to the State Climatologist Office.
- Coordinate and prepare educational events; manage program materials; and develop science‑based training materials and curricula, including printed publications, online learning modules, videos, and other educational resources.
- Deliver educational and instructional programs tailored to the needs of youth and adult audiences; evaluate program effectiveness; and research, prepare, and write grant proposals, technical documents, and educational content.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and facilitation of the annual Alabama Water Resources Conference.
- Collaborate with Water Resources Center staff to identify and pursue extramural funding opportunities; implement project deliverables; and prepare and submit grant‑related reports.
- Develop and implement marketing and outreach materials to promote programs and services.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Water Resources Center's mission and objectives.
Level I:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Agronomy and Soils, Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, or closely related field.
- Valid driver’s license
Level II:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Agronomy and Soils, Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, or closely related field and 2 years of experience in the design, implementation, delivery and management of educational programs/services.
- Valid driver’s license
Level III:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Agronomy and Soils, Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, or closely related field and 4 years of experience in the design, implementation, delivery and management of educational programs/services.
- Valid driver’s license

EXPERIENCE:
Yes, When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Desired Qualifications include:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Environmental Science or closely related field.
- Experience with the following: water quality data collection and analysis, citizen science, project management; willingness to travel and work some evenings and weekends.
- Experience with ArcGIS (ArcGIS Pro, Arc Map, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, Survey
123, ArcGIS Story Maps) and/or with programming are a plus.
