Overview
The North America HVAC and Engine Systems organization is currently seeking a Quality Focused Design Release Engineer to join the refrigerant loop team at the Headquarters & Technical Center (CTC) in Auburn Hills, MI.
Responsibilities- Root cause warranty/quality issues related to AC compressors and AC lines.
- Triage and identify root causes of issues and pursue opportunities for future process/design improvements related to the refrigerant loop.
- Document issues, maintain relevant presentations, and work with the Global Issue Management (GIM), AI data analysis tools, and statistical tools.
- Support onsite part reviews and travel as needed to suppliers or Stellantis plants.
- Interface with multiple stakeholders (e.g., powertrain, BIW, Aero/Thermal, Engine Cooling, and suppliers).
- Support bench-level testing and vehicle reviews to identify root causes and help fix issues for critical warranty topics.
- Lead meetings and establish containment actions for quality issues related to the refrigerant loop.
- Product development and maintaining DVPR may also be required.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent).
- 5+ years of experience in HVAC compressors and/or AC line design/development; other related design experience (Engine cooling, Aero-Thermal) is a plus.
- Very good knowledge of Unigraphics NX and CATIA.
- Strong PC + MS Office skills; excellent written, verbal, and listening skills and interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter and motivated to produce results.
- Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
- Basic thermodynamics knowledge.
- Knowledge of statistical tools and/or AI data mining tools.
- Experience with quality processes/tools and/or warranty systems.
- Experience in e-compressors, chillers, and EV components is a plus.
- Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS).
- Basic knowledge in thermodynamics.
- Automotive assembly plant experience.
- HVAC system engineering knowledge.
- Previous experience as an AC line design and release engineer.
- Working knowledge of GD&T and understanding full detail on drawings.
