Overview

The North America HVAC and Engine Systems organization is currently seeking a Quality Focused Design Release Engineer to join the refrigerant loop team at the Headquarters & Technical Center (CTC) in Auburn Hills, MI.

Responsibilities
  • Root cause warranty/quality issues related to AC compressors and AC lines.
  • Triage and identify root causes of issues and pursue opportunities for future process/design improvements related to the refrigerant loop.
  • Document issues, maintain relevant presentations, and work with the Global Issue Management (GIM), AI data analysis tools, and statistical tools.
  • Support onsite part reviews and travel as needed to suppliers or Stellantis plants.
  • Interface with multiple stakeholders (e.g., powertrain, BIW, Aero/Thermal, Engine Cooling, and suppliers).
  • Support bench-level testing and vehicle reviews to identify root causes and help fix issues for critical warranty topics.
  • Lead meetings and establish containment actions for quality issues related to the refrigerant loop.
  • Product development and maintaining DVPR may also be required.
Basic qualifications, experience, and knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC compressors and/or AC line design/development; other related design experience (Engine cooling, Aero-Thermal) is a plus.
  • Very good knowledge of Unigraphics NX and CATIA.
  • Strong PC + MS Office skills; excellent written, verbal, and listening skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter and motivated to produce results.
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
  • Basic thermodynamics knowledge.
  • Knowledge of statistical tools and/or AI data mining tools.
  • Experience with quality processes/tools and/or warranty systems.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in e-compressors, chillers, and EV components is a plus.
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS).
  • Basic knowledge in thermodynamics.
  • Automotive assembly plant experience.
  • HVAC system engineering knowledge.
  • Previous experience as an AC line design and release engineer.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and understanding full detail on drawings.
