Pliant is best known for the revolutionary Tempest wireless intercom system which is relied upon in leading broadcast facilities, live-sound, theater, sports, theme parks, and major events in over 40 countries. Pliant’s newest wireless intercom systems, Crew Com and Micro Com are part of the commitment to changing the landscape of today’s wireless communications technologies.
This is a senior level engineering position with product leadership and design responsibilities. This employee plays a key role in the product launch of new PCB-based, industry-compliant, embedded electronic equipment. Depending on the project, the employee will either work as an individual or as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The employee sometimes directs the work of other engineers, designers and technicians, and performs other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities- Project Leadership: Leads design activities for a project and coordinates design activities with other personnel where appropriate including the flow of information and documentation to other departments.
- Project Planning and Execution: Planning and executing electronic projects, including defining requirements, creating project schedules, and overseeing all phases of development to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
- Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Addressing technical challenges, troubleshooting system issues, and making critical decisions to optimize electronic designs and functionalities.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Working closely with hardware engineers, software developers, and product managers to integrate electronic systems seamlessly into products and solutions.
- Process Improvement and Innovation: Continuously seeking opportunities to enhance design processes, implement best practices, and drive innovation in electronic system development.
- Data Collection: Collect and analyze technical information from a variety of sources, including conversations with engineers, product managers and suppliers, technical documents, operation of equipment and their own tests & experiments.
- Production Readiness: Develop, test and demonstrate device compliance with specifications and industry standards and prepare production documentation.
- New product development experience with embedded electronic systems involving microprocessors, FPGAs, analog circuits, wireless RF, Li-Ion batteries and sensors preferred.
- Experience with full product development life cycles and Stage-Gate development processes preferred.
- Experience with domestic and international product compliance preferred.
- Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, adaptability to changing project requirements, leadership skills to guide teams, and a collaborative mindset for cross-functional engagement.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- 5 - 10 years of hands‑on design and development of electronic assemblies or demonstrable competencies, which are commensurate with that level of experience.
- Good oral and written communication skills;
