Job Description & How to Apply Below

An Advanced Manufacturing role embedded within UPE to own EH&S from concept through SOP for all new propulsion line launches. Operates upstream of plant EH&S — driving safety-by-design, chemical compliance, ergonomic integration, and launch readiness — and serves as the primary EH&S interface between UPE launch teams, plant EH&S, and corporate functions. Ensures EH&S is designed in before handoff to plant operations and tracks safety and ergonomic milestones from Planning through Production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Launch Safety & Design Phase Risk
  • Lead SFMEA, ergonomic assessments, and risk-matrix reviews; embed EH&S specifications, guarding requirements, and regulatory standards into equipment designs and line layouts before equipment is ordered
  • Represent EH&S in EEM reviews; build EH&S actions into milestone gate checklists and verify closure prior to SOP
  • Develop and maintain equipment design safety standards, including interlocks on gates and fences (e.g., tamper proof fasteners, access control), and manage communication of standards updates to launch and engineering teams
  • Coordinate safety training requirements for launch personnel; align general plant policies with plant-specific training coordination and ensure pre-SOP readiness across all sites
  • Manage contractor coordination for all EH&S requirements during construction, installation, and commissioning phases; verify contractor compliance with Stellantis safety standards before and during site work
Safety & Ergonomic Launch Milestone Tracking
  • Serve as EH&S and ergonomics milestone owner from Planning through Production; track and report status at each program gate (Intention, Pre-Contract, Contract Commitment, Style Freeze, Detailed Design, SHRM, MPRM, LRM, SODM)
  • During Planning: notify corporate and plant safety representatives, define project scope and specifications, review ARRS requests, and initiate SMI-105 with the project engineer
  • During Design: complete SMI-102 at 40% design; coordinate SPARC submissions and SMI-162 reviews; lead PSR Preliminary review for Canadian facilities; support detailed design review at 90% (SMI-105) and ensure ergonomic assessments, virtual reality simulations, and safe-distance calculations (SMI-171) are completed and uploaded
  • During Physical/Build & Validate: attend OEM build reviews and provide safety approval to ship; verify power-on requirements (SMI-105), perimeter guarding, placard proof, and entry-point signage; lead PSR Final Review and obtain Letter of Conformance for Canadian plants; finalize SMI-105 documentation
  • During Production: support management of change processes; flag idle equipment (>6 months) for update or SMI initiation; review and update SMI-102 and SMI-166; upload to SPARC
  • For ergonomic milestones: identify ergonomic representatives at program outset; define scope, objectives, and lessons learned; specify ergonomic requirements; conduct preliminary assessments; lead digital/virtual ergonomic simulations; support workstation readiness, physical validation, material handling design, tool and equipment buyoff (SMI-105), and transition plant handoff; identify program lessons learned for continuous improvement
Equipment Acceptance & Commissioning
  • Set EH&S acceptance criteria for Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT); participate in reviews, document findings, and provide green/yellow/red readiness status at all launch gates — unresolved EH&S risks are launch blockers
  • Partner with plant EH&S through installation and commissioning; formally hand off compliance responsibilities at SOP
Chemical Management – ETI-103 & ETI-101
  • Manage ETI-103 reports for all new incoming launch equipment: review supplier chemical inventories, verify hazard classifications, resolve discrepancies, and confirm records are complete before equipment acceptance
  • Create ETI-101 applications for new non-production material part numbers: coordinate with suppliers and plant EH&S to obtain SDS documentation, classify materials, and secure approval before plant introduction
  • Maintain chemical compliance records; elevate non-compliant submissions and tie approval status to launch gates
