The Engineer for Vehicle Dynamics Digital Development is responsible for Planning and executing activities to support Advanced Vehicle Programs with component and sub system specifications to meet full vehicle performance targets for Ride, Handling and Steering. The selected candidate will be integral with the Program team working with Vehicle Dynamics Test Engineers, Vehicle Development, Chassis Component Engineers, NVH and Durability.
Off-line Simulation assessments, followed by recommending countermeasures supported by Virtual Validation with correlated models. HIL/SIL integration as needed supporting vehicle tuning.
- Execute and update the Virtual workplan
- Ensure key deliverables are met at the appropriate milestones
- Building, correlating models and using them to satisfy the workplans
- Prioritizetheworkloadaccordingtotheneedsoftheprogram: balancing meeting internal deliverables, but also best serving the vehicle & program needs.
- Represent Digital Vehicle Dynamics in technical discussions with the interfacing teams
- Provide Technical assistance to the Less experienced and contract Virtual Engineers
- Participate in Global process development activities
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in vehicle dynamics or chassis design
- 1 years' experience of Multi Body Simulation (preferably ADAMS Car)
- Candidate must be highly motivated, self-directed, andhave the ability to manage multiple complex assignments simultaneously
- Strong cross functional team management skills along with superior written and oral skills
- Experience with tire models
- Familiarity with Vehicle Ride, Handling, and Steering, with associated metrics
- Understanding of Chassis subsystems and components - (e.g.Suspension Kinematics/Compliance, tires, springs, shocks and steering/Braking systems)
- Experience with Other Simulation tools (e.g. CARSIM, Car Realtime, MATLAB, EXCEL)
- Master's Degree
- Ability to develop custom routines – e.g. Visual Basic, Python, MATLAB
- Experience with Hardware In the Loop, Software in the Loop & Driver in the Loop
- Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
- Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
- Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)
- Ability to extract component detail from NX, Teamcenter
- Ability to Coach and mentor
