AM Applications Engineer – Early Career

• Support development of additively manufactured components from concept to production using Laser Powder Bed printing
• Assist in defining and delivering production print models using state-of-the-art software tools, configuration-controlled processes, and design for additive manufacturing
• Learn machine-specific workflows and software packages to improve additive designs
• Participate in process definition, documentation, and improvement teams for manufacturing and business processes, production planning, lessons learned, and standards/processes
• Assist in developing manufacturing work instructions defining the process from print to delivery
• Support management of hardware cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule throughout the manufacturing process
• Participate in root cause analyses for non-conformances and escapes and support corrective actions
• Support operations onsite in Kent, Washington and during off hours, if required, via phone or online tools
• Support translation of engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into additively manufactured metallic flight hardware
• Work closely with operators, quality technicians, and engineering counterparts to process complex rocket engine and rocket components
• Use data to drive process improvements and provide feedback between design and fabrication

• Minimum of a B.S. degree or higher in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field
• Degree earned within the last year
• Able to start by Fall 2027
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident/current Green Card holder, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
• Interest in or exposure to additive manufacturing technologies
• Must be physically able to support production floor activities onsite to keep parts flowing
• Ability to support onsite in Kent, Washington
• Ability to support production during off hours if required
• Coursework or project experience related to additive manufacturing
• Exposure to laser powder bed fusion printing or similar technologies
• Foundational understanding of engineering concepts and design for manufacturing
• Familiarity with CAD design (Creo), support design (Magics), or simulation packages (MSC, ANSYS)
• Interest in metallic additive manufacturing and design
• Knowledge of design for additive manufacturing principles
• Experience with technical documentation or work instructions
• Aerospace or rocket engine development interest or coursework
• Ability to pass Blue’s Standard Background Check

Demonstrates expertise in additive manufacturing processes, particularly Laser Powder Bed printing, and possesses a foundational understanding of engineering concepts and design for manufacturing. Capable of developing technical documentation and work instructions while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in aerospace environments.
