Project /Practice Management
  • Reporting to the Sr. Projects Portfolio Manager at the LSB Cherokee facility in Alabama, the position will provide project and construction oversight from project conception through commissioning and startup.
  • Assist in ensuring there is a technical interface between the project, operations, maintenance, and EH&S groups to ensure all operational and regulatory requirements are incorporated into any project design.
  • Have a working level knowledge of LSBs plant processes and understand how the projects will interface with the existing units.
  • Develop project scopes, create clear project deliverables, and create and execute project work plans.
  • Assist in developing project schedule and maintain/track details to ensure the schedule is updated and accurate to the level of available information.
  • Manage construction contractors, as well as equipment vendors in support of projects.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project.
  • Apply LSB project methodology and enforce project standards while adhering to LSB project phase gate process.
Communication
  • Develop strong working relationships with all LSB groups as well as contractors and technology suppliers.
  • Effectively communicates relevant project information to leadership.
  • Assist in developing informative and well-organized presentations.
  • Resolve and/or elevate issues in a timely fashion.
Technical Understanding
  • Capable of traveling to equipment sites, performing fit-for-service inspections, reporting, and utilizing information to develop project scope of work and facilitate cost estimating of existing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of industry codes including ASME piping specifications, Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, National Electric Code, and similar codes used for equipment specifications, design and installation of industrial equipment.
  • Ensuring that all design specifications conform to the latest national and local codes, rules and regulations.
  • Create request for equipment quotations for project cost estimates using equipment specifications.
Leadership
  • Demonstrates safety leadership in the field.
  • Manages multiple projects and associated schedules, and resources.
  • Supports company safety programs and initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Required:

    HS Education with additional training/certifications
  • 10-15 years of operating company experience (project, maintenance, and operations), preferably with nitrogen-based production facilities but definitely with Chemical and Heavy Industrial Manufacturing with strong Contractor presence.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and industry regulations for ammonia facilities (ASME piping code, ASME Section VIII, NEC electric code, etc.)
  • Demonstrated performance in completing plant projects successfully, on time and on budget within an operating production facility.
  • Experience in all facets of project disciplines (instrumentation, electrical, piping, civil, structural, rotating and static equipment).
  • Ability to use MS Office, JD Edwards, AutoCAD, Navisworks and other similar industry software programs.
  • Strong project leadership, problem solving, and analytical skills.
