Auburn Advancement is excited to begin the search for an IRF Finance Reporting Analyst to join our philanthropy team! In this position, you’ll play a role in executing operational philanthropy strategies and coordinate fundraising initiatives.
What You’ll Do- Evaluate and Innovate:
Analyze financial data and audit outcomes to identify trends, enhance reporting systems, and recommend improvements in financial processes, ensuring accuracy and forward-thinking compliance practices. - Optimize Operations:
Streamline financial workflows through accurate journal entries, year-end coordination, and audit preparation—promoting efficiency, reducing risk, and ensuring seamless collaboration between Auburn University and its IRFs. - Facilitate Fundraising Initiatives:
Support fundraising through transparent, FASB-compliant financial reporting, enabling donor trust and ensuring proper use and tracking of philanthropic funds. - Champion Philanthropy:
Uphold donor intent and institutional credibility by maintaining financial integrity, enabling informed decision-making, and safeguarding the university’s nonprofit status through strong tax and compliance oversight.

- Maintain the financial integrity of Auburn University’s institutionally related foundations (IRF) by preparing accurate, FASB-compliant financial statements, analyzing tax implications, and supporting stewardship of philanthropic funds.
- Ensure alignment with the university’s mission and donor intent.
- Work closely with external auditors, the AU Office of Financial Reporting, and internal departments to coordinate audits, year-end reporting, and fund transfers.
- Ensure transparency, accountability, and effective teamwork across stakeholders.
- Continuously review and refine financial processes within systems like Banner, develop special reports, and provide expert insights on tax and FASB reporting.
- Identify new efficiencies and solutions to support evolving financial and compliance needs.
- Deliver timely and accurate financial reports, board presentations, journal entries, and compliance documents.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality output that drives decision-making and operational execution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or a degree plus a CPA.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or a degree plus a CPA and 2 years of experience in financial statement preparation and accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or a degree plus a CPA and 4 years of experience in financial statement preparation and accounting.
