Chief Financial Officer

Position Description

As our next Chief Financial Officer, you will play a critical role in guiding the credit union’s financial strategy, ensuring long‑term sustainability, and supporting organizational decisions that enhance member value and operational performance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the credit union’s financial strategy and operations, overseeing accounting, asset‑liability management, budgeting, financial planning, investments, and regulatory financial reporting.
  • Report directly to the President/CEO and serve as a key strategic partner to executive leadership and the Board, providing financial insights to support decision‑making and organizational growth.
  • Maintain the credit union’s financial strength while identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and support strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee financial forecasting, liquidity management, capital planning, and risk management practices that ensure stability in an evolving economic and regulatory environment.
  • Ensure internal controls, audit coordination, and regulatory compliance within financial operations.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure financial practices align with industry standards while supporting innovation and growth.
  • Provide strong analytical capability, communication skills, and collaborative leadership to enable cross‑functional success.
Qualifications
  • At least seven years of progressive leadership experience in financial management, with experience in a financial institution required.
  • Demonstrated success in financial strategy, asset‑liability management, budgeting, and regulatory financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting executive and board‑level decision‑making.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred; CPA designation required.
  • Working familiarity with Jack Henry and Symitar platforms, including the ability to leverage system reporting and financial data for operational and strategic management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaborative mindset, with a commitment to supporting AUCU’s mission and culture.
Location

This position is based in Auburn, Alabama and requires in‑person engagement with staff, leadership, and community partners. Remote work is not available for this role.
