POLICE Officer

Overview

This is general duty police work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances.

Police officers will enforce laws and ordinances, protect life and property, and serve the community with integrity and professionalism.

• Applicants currently certified as a Peace Officer by the Alabama Peace Officer's Standards Training Commission (APOST) must attach their APOST Certificate or Alabama Police Academy diploma.
• Applicants without APOST certification must complete a Physical Agility/Ability Test (PAAT). A pass is required for application processing.

• Graduate from a standard senior high school or successfully complete the GED test.
• Preferably supplemented by college-level coursework in criminal justice or law enforcement.
• Preferably with some experience dealing with the public under varying circumstances.
• Combination of education and experience equivalent to the above.

• Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence.
• Age requirements: 20 years of age generally; 21 years of age for City of Satsuma; 19 years of age for City of Mobile.
• Must be able to successfully complete the required minimum standards training necessary for recognition as a sworn law enforcement officer.
• No maximum age limit.

• City of Satsuma: $40,458 - $64,678 (5% incentive pay increase available)
• Town of Mt Vernon: $41,602 - $66,508
• City of Creola: $39,471 - $63,100
