Infrastructure Systems Engineer

Job Description

The central Office of Information Technology at Auburn University is seeking applicants for the role Infrastructure Systems Engineer. In this position, you will assist in the administration of diverse private and public cloud-based applications.

As an Infrastructure Systems Engineer, you will support the operation and maintenance of the university’s cloud-based applications and infrastructure.

• Provide application management and administration for private and public cloud-hosted applications.
• Use industry-standard monitoring tools to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities on an ongoing basis.
• Monitor and report on system security and utilization.
• Investigate infrastructure or application performance problems.
• Perform application installation, maintenance, training, and support as required.
• Document and maintain established backup and disaster recovery processes and procedures.
• Work closely with IT personnel and end‑users from a number of different disciplines and backgrounds. After‑hours and on‑call responsibilities should be expected.
• Apply systems thinking, possess superior interpersonal and communication skills, be self‑motivated, and be a life‑long learner.
• Demonstrate experience and success working in a collaborative team environment.
• Have excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Be skilled at organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple concurrent tasks and/or projects.

Working onsite is a requirement of the job. May work up to 2 days hybrid remote in local area with supervisor’s approval.

• Bachelor's degree + 0 years of experience OR
• Associate's degree + 4 years of experience OR
• High school diploma or equivalent + 8 years of experience

• Bachelor's degree + 3 years of experience OR
• Associate's degree + 7 years of experience OR
• High school diploma or equivalent + 11 years of experience

Scope of

Experience:

Relevant IT experience in the administration of distributed computer systems, preferably in a university setting.

• Experience managing SaaS applications in a complex environment.
• Experience with infrastructure administration, data management and storage service metrics.
• Experience proactively monitoring server infrastructure for capacity, utilization, and performance thresholds.
• Experience with Qlik Sense, Power BI or other DW & BI products.
• Experience with Python or other scripting languages.
