The Aluminum Buyer is responsible for purchasing activity for aluminum in NA. The responsibilities include supplier negotiations, sourcing on time and to target, driving annual cost savings activities, managing day-to-day operations and execution of global commodity strategies.
The core responsibilities of the Aluminum Buyer are the development, ownership and execution of full life-cycle commodity strategies which include but are not limited to:
- Lead all aspects of the commercial relationship with the supply base and internal customers, including sourcing process
- Manage flat aluminum and primary/secondary aluminum purchasing commodity
- Drive clear next steps for the Global Commodity Strategy, for flat aluminum and primary/secondary aluminum, supporting Stellantis 2030 Dare Forward Goals
- Bench‑marking Aluminum suppliers
- Cost Management
- Purchase order issuance/maintenance
- Ensure raw material suppliers are able to produce material, and meet SOP and plant material requirements (supply/delivery)
- Lead on aluminum related items with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Resolve raw material aluminum shortage concerns and commercial disputes
- Ensure all aluminum suppliers are up to date on their Eco Vadis Assessment and have signed the most recent GRPG
- Leverage AI, analytics, and digital tools to identify opportunities to automate or streamline manual purchasing processes, improve cycle time, reduce rework, and create measurable efficiencies across sourcing, supplier management, cost tracking, and purchase order activities
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited university or a bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Economics or related field from an AACSB accredited program
- Minimum 1 year of experience in purchasing or a related field
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong regional and global relationships
- Must be well organized, self‑motivated, capable of managing conflict, and resourceful when managing complex assignments
- Must be comfortable and excel in a fast‑paced environment
- Results oriented and ability to lead cross‑functional and global teams in issue resolution
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to think and act strategically
- Strong communication skills required; must be comfortable interfacing with all levels of management
- Customer focus and strong knowledge of business processes across group purchasing
- MBA or Master’s Degree in a related area
- Experience using AI, automation, data analytics, or digital productivity tools to improve manual processes, increase efficiency, and support data‑driven decision making in purchasing, supply chain, finance, or related business operations
