DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is looking to hire a Factory‑Built Substation (FBS) Technician to work from our Port of Alexandria Facility in our Assembly Department. An FBS Technician, as part of a team, assembles custom factory‑built substations. The FBS Technician is responsible for reading blueprints, erecting steel, assembling, and operating machinery and more. This individual must be able to perform duties with speed and accuracy to produce a quality product and keep a steady flow of products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Successfully apply simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammer, screwdriver, etc.
  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
  • Position and align parts to form complete structures, following blueprints and layout specifications, using machinery, and hand tools.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and common power tools.
  • Move parts safely into position, manually or with hoists or cranes.
  • Keep the warehouse property in order, including but not limited to routine maintenance and grooming of grounds and facilities and regular and preventative maintenance on all company equipment and machinery.
  • Attend safety meetings as requested or instructed.
  • Operate all machinery and equipment, including the company’s forklift, safely at all times.
  • Promote company goals.
  • Work to display an excellent safety record.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Read and understand measuring devices such as tape measurer, rules, and combination squares required.
  • Perform simple shop math (add/subtract fractions, decimals, and whole numbers) required.
  • Experience applying simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammer, screwdriver, etc. required.
  • Experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
