Overview
The Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology is seeking a Research Associate to assist with research focused on insect vector-borne plant diseases. The appointment is for an initial period of three years with possibility to continue, contingent upon performance and availability of funding.
Responsibilities- Management of insect colonies and experimental insect populations.
- Ordering of laboratory supplies and tracking of purchases.
- Inventory management for reagents, kits, and common-use materials.
- Assistance with protocol development and implementation.
- Planning and organizing experiments based on current funding priorities and lab needs.
- Coordination of materials, timelines, and workflow for active projects.
- Supervision of undergraduate students, including scheduling, assignment of routine tasks, monitoring performance, and reinforcing expectations for appropriate laboratory conduct.
- Coordination of activities between Ag-STEM and Pesticide Research, including movement between buildings as needed.
- Participation in weekly lab meetings.
- Periodic presentation of work when actively conducting experiments.
Level I:
- Master's degree in Entomology, Plant Science, Bioagricultural Science, or a closely related field.
Level II:
- Master's degree in Entomology, Plant Science, Bioagricultural Science, or a closely related field and 2 years of experience in research practices and protocols.
Level III:
- Master's degree in Entomology, Plant Science, Bioagricultural Science, or a closely related field and 4 years of experience in research practices and protocols.

EXPERIENCE:
Yes, When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
