Job Description Overview
The College of Forestry, Wildlife, and Environment at Auburn University is seeking a qualified individual for a position as apostdoctoral Fellow in the field of developing new composites usingfibers from natural resources. This 12-month, limited-term,non-tenure-track position is funded by external sources and isrenewable subject to funding availability.
Applications should be received by September 2, 2026. We anticipate a start date of October 1st, 2026.
ResponsibilitiesThe primary task of this position is to help build a wood and related composites research platform focused on compositemanufacturing and characterization. The major tasks include developing new research ideas, writing research proposals, and publishing high-impact research articles.
Qualifications- Ph.D. or equivalent degree in wood science, forest bioproducts,or a closely related field at time of employment.
- Expertise with wood-based composites
- Expertise in wood polymer composite manufacturing and characterization
- Experience on thermally modified wood and itscharacterization
- The successful applicant will demonstrate commitment to thetimely completion of deliverables, commitment to the publication ofresults in peer-reviewed journals, and strong potential to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders on a highly visibleresearch topic.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are required.
- The candidate selected for this position must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally forthe proposed term of employment (no sponsorship).
- Strong research background in wood product development
