* About the Role:

** As a Shop Mechanic at our mine repair shop and other associated mining locations while performing various tasks such as welding, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment such as, production hoists, Service Hoists, mine fans trucks and other similar equipment. The Surface Shop Mechanic will work closely with supervisors and other team members to maintain a safe work environment while adhering to company policies and procedures.
** Responsibilities:
*** Working from heights often in excess of 2000’ with Safety harness requiring 100% tie off at all times PPE and safety devices
* Climbing stairs up to 15 stories multiple times per day with various tools, parts and supplies.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
* Maintain and repair, service trucks, forklifts, and light vehicles.
* Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and hydraulic diagrams.
* Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately.
* Inspect equipment to identify safety concerns and potential failures.
* Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and component replacement as needed.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
* Assist with field repairs when required.
* Coordinate with operations personnel to prioritize equipment repairs.
* Ensure compliance with MSHA regulations, company safety policies, and environmental requirements.
* Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Maintain inventory of tools and assist in managing repair parts.
** Who You are:
*** High school diploma or GED.
* Alabama certified hoist operator required (must obtain certifications within 3 months of being awarded Job
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in surface and/or underground mining, construction, or similar industrial environments.
* Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, powertrain components. Must be able to pass welding, mechanical and hydraulic test administered by the company.
* Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
* Valid driver's license with good driving record.
* Ability to obtain and maintain required MSHA certifications.
* Surface coal mining maintenance experience.
* MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 Surface and Underground Miner Training.
* Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.
* Strong mechanical aptitude.
* Ability to interpret technical manuals and equipment schematics.
* Proficiency with hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting.
* Excellent welding and fabrication skills.
* Effective communication and teamwork.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
