Building Maintenance, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Performs work related to electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, lock and door repairs, roofing, masonry, welding, equipment operations, and painting, along with preventative maintenance and repairs.
In addition to adhering to general policies and guidelines specified by the ACCS Board of Trustees and the MMI Faculty/Staff Handbook, the successful candidate will also perform the following duties:
Knowledge of:- Materials, methods, machines, and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance utilized in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures.
- Electrical wiring capabilities to manage problems with the building’s electricity.
- Plumbing to address leaks, clogs, or other drainage problems.
- Carpentry to manage basic repairs around the building.
- HVAC preventative maintenance and routine servicing of equipment.
- Welding processes, equipment, and materials.
- Various lock types, key systems, and security technologies.
- Mathematical applications related to building craft trades, reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Construction, remodeling, retrofitting, and repair of campus facilities electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, along with operation of man-lifts and other heavy equipment.
- Perform preparatory work for maintenance activities, including organizing equipment, materials, and supplies for projects.
- Install, maintain, and repair diverse types of locks and door hardware, including mechanical and electronic systems. Also, master key system management, key cutting, and assist with lockouts.
- Maintain tools, vehicles, equipment, and keep parts and supplies in good order.
- Contribute to a safe work environment by ensuring use of proper personal protective equipment and following safety procedures outlined in Material Safety Data Sheets.
- Work non-standard hours in support of special events and respond to after-hour emergency repair requirements.
- Any other duties assigned.
- Warehouse Manager – Oversee ordering, receiving, storing, and deliveries of materials, supplies, and repair parts. Ensure the warehouse is in good order!
- Transportation Support, multi-passenger vehicle driver.
- Combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Trade skill certification (Preferred).
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must pass required State of Alabama Background Investigation.
- Valid Alabama Driver’s license with satisfactory driving record required.
- Driver’s License requires Class “B” CDL with passenger endorsement within 6-months of employment.
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching, heavy lifting and carrying. Ability to operate hand, power, and bench tools. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions; outside and inside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; on ladders and scaffolding; and around machinery with moving parts. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, and excessive noises.
Salary Schedule E3, $47,; based on relevant education and experience.
