Alabama Rural Ministry (ARM) is dedicated to cultivating spiritual leaders who serve alongside rural and under-resourced communities to create safe and sustainable homes, support families, and build impactful community partnerships. Each year, ARM brings together hundreds of volunteers to work with families, making their homes secure, warm, and dry. During the summer, ARM hosts a summer mission sites with two efforts: home repair and Sonshine Kid's Day Camp for children.

ARM runs youth mission camps in East Alabama. As part of its summer programs, ARM hires 7-11 college-aged mission interns who engage in roles such as construction coordination, day camp counseling, and leadership at mission sites.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role as a Summer Staff Counselor based in Auburn, AL. There are five different lanes of service. Each counselor will work closely with youth mission camp teams to facilitate construction projects for families, lead activities for children at Sonshine Kid's Day Camp, and ensure that other summer ministry programming is carried out effectively. New this year are food and hospitality coordinators and a communication specialist.

Each role involves directly overseeing the care, engagement, and progress of volunteers and children while fostering a positive, encouraging, and faith-driven environment.

Qualifications
  • A deep love for Jesus and ministry
  • Ability to work in team settings, lead volunteer groups, and foster collaborative environments
  • Strong communication, mentoring, and leadership skills
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Passion for serving under-resourced communities and working in faith-driven programs
  • Physical capability to engage in light construction, outdoor activities, and child supervision
  • Experience with youth programs, education, or ministry is a plus
  • CPR or First Aid certification is a bonus
