Overview

Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our Quality Team at our Auburn, CA / Vian Enterprises location.

About Crane

Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets. Our Auburn facility designs and manufactures multi-stage lubrication and gerotor pumps for aerospace and defense applications. Located in the Northern California foothills of the Sierra Nevada, our 65,000 sq. ft. facility supports mission-critical engine/APU systems.

Job Summary

The Quality Engineer works with minimal supervision and uses originality, ingenuity and established procedures to control and monitor quality, ensuring products are consistent with industry standards, government regulations, and customer requirements. Must have knowledge and experience working with AS9145 and ISO.

Essential Functions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Operations, Suppliers, and Customers) to ensure product quality and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and analyze production data, quality control systems, and critical points in the value stream to identify and address quality issues.
  • Lead root cause analysis, recommend corrective actions, and drive qualification of product and process changes to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Support audits, failure analysis, and reliability testing, while producing reports on nonconformance, quality trends, and root cause analyses.
  • Review and approve quality-related document changes (ECOs, MCOs, deviations) and implement continuous improvement strategies using data-driven methods.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience:

    AS9145/APQP knowledge/experience; 5+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer in an Aerospace environment or similar manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge:
    Knows and applies advanced concepts, practices and procedures of assigned product or program;
    Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Skills/Abilities:
    Demonstrated ability to plan and accomplish goals based on experience and judgment;
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff and outside professionals;
    Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
  • Education/Certification:

    BA or BS degree in Quality, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Eligibility Requirement:
    This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Lean Principles and Implementation Tools
  • Educational background in Structured Problem Solving, 5S, Mistake-Proofing and process capability tools
  • Familiarity with Minitab
  • ASQC Quality Engineer Certification
Working Conditions
  • Standard office environment
  • Work requires substantial visual concentration on detail
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
  • Standing: 10% (approximate)
  • Sitting: 90% (approximate)
  • Lifting (in pounds): up to 25 pounds
  • Pushing (in pounds): up to 25 pounds

Salary range for QE III: $109,000 to $128,300. Salary Range for QE IV: $129,300 - $152,700 Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
