Description Of Duties/Essential Functions
Under general supervision of the Shift Supervisor, instructs, and supervises Correctional Sergeants, Correctional Officers, and Correctional Officer Trainees; enforces and maintains discipline, safety, security, maintenance, sanitary and custodial measures for the control of offenders; monitors compliance with Departmental Rules, Administrative Directives and Institutional Policies.
Minimum Requirements- knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years high school and completion of an approved Correctional Officer Training Program
- two years experience as a Correctional Officer in a penal or security institution
- thorough knowledge of institutional rules, regulations, and requirements for the control of inmates
- working knowledge of individual and group attitude and behavior of inmates in a penal or correctional institution
- thorough knowledge of methods and techniques used in discipline of employees and persons in correctional institutions
- knowledge of practices and procedures in prison administration
- ability to climb, bend, stoop, run, jump, walk and stand for short or extended periods of time
- a valid driver's license
- ability to properly use firearms
WORK HOURS:
3pm - 11pm. DAYS OFF:
Wednesday/Thursday (work week Friday
- Tuesday).
