EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities:
- May oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment
- Load, unload and operate sweeper truck
- Drive and operate sweeper truck to maintain cleanliness in paving operations
- Possess a solid understanding of the paving industry
- The driver is responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor
- May perform other related duties such as shovel work, setting string line, adding or removing screed extensions, etc.
- Minimum of 1 year experience required
- Must have a valid Driver License
- Must meet company MVR requirements
- Must be eligible to possess a DOT Medical Card
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Must be able to work days, nights, or weekends as needed (regularly scheduled weekend work from March - November)
- Able to complete all required paperwork efficiently
- Must be able to meet all physical requirements of the job
Exercise judgment to comply with instructions, prescribed routines, practices, or methods. Decisions are often minor within the limitations of direction of supervisor.
Physical Activity/Demand:- Position requires the ability to climb onto machine, grasp control levers, push and pull, and have sensitivity to touch. Operator must have the ability to feel amount of pressure exerted on the levers. This position is repetitive in motions of the hand, wrist, and fingers. Operator must be able to perceive sounds and receive detailed information through oral communications, as well as to make fine discrimination in equipment noises which may indicate mechanical problems.
- Light effort required to operate the screed levers and controls. Operator must be able to move constantly and lift/move very light weight material (under 25 pounds).
Continuous mental and visual attention is required to operate the screed. Constant alertness, care, and attention to activities including visual acuity, depth perception, and field of vision.
Responsibility for Equipment:Operator is responsible for preventing damage to equipment due to mistakes, carelessness, incorrect process or procedures. Such mishaps could be costly in terms of repair or replacement as well as production time.
Responsibility for Material:Operator is responsible for preventing damage to material worked.
Responsibility for Safety of Others:Normal care necessary to prevent injury to others. An accident, should it occur, would result in minor injuries, such as sprains or burns.
Responsibility for Work of Others:Responsible for own work; works closely with paver operator.
Working Conditions:Disagreeable working conditions for screed operator. Continuous exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, sun and seasonal temperature variances. Operator is exposed to machine noise and other elements with several continuously present to the extent of being objectionable.
Injuries should they occur, could result in minor burns or abrasions.
