Preschool Teacher
General duties:
The preschool teacher will deliver educational excellence to students in each grade and subject level consistent with the mission, vision, and core values of LPCS. This is a part-time position working three days per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).
Areas of responsibility:
- Maintains a Godly spirit-led life and approach to work
- Prepares lessons that develop students academically, socially, and spiritually
- Focuses all preschool experiences on developing a biblical worldview
- Ensures the classroom is a clean, safe, and organized learning environment
- Supervises and supports students during play time and engages in creative methods of learning
- Maintains records as well as timely and meaningful communication with parents
- Actively supports the mission, vision, and core values of LPCS
- Additional items, as requested by the Director
Professional qualifications:
- Associates degree in early education required
- Early education experience in a Christian setting preferred
- Thoroughly appreciates children and seeks to develop them and disciple them
- Demonstrates wisdom, emotional discipline, and timeliness in decision-making
- Values positive relationships and evidences relationship-building skills, especially listening
- Demonstrates a Biblical educational philosophy relevant to 21st-century students
- Displays professionalism in appearance, communication, and time management
- Demonstrates competency in child development and preschool curriculum
Personal qualifications:
- Shows evidence of spiritual maturity and has a personal Christian testimony
- Attends a church with a doctrinal statement consistent with that of Lakewood Park
- Understands and protects the confidential nature of the information entrusted to him/her
- Values life-long learning and has a teachable spirit
- Works well both independently and in a team environment
- Dependable, arriving on time, and working the expected hours each week
Physical qualifications:
- Able to climb stairs, stand, sit, walk, kneel, bend, push, pull, and reach a chalkboard height
- Can lift, lower, or carry up to twenty pounds
- Tolerates occasional interruptions, noise, high stress, and outdoor duty in temperatures that may exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit or be lower than 50 degrees Fahrenheit
- Able to operate a copier, telephone, computer, printer, calculator, and AV equipment
- Has manual dexterity, eye/hand coordination, and visual acuity (both near and far)
- Can speak and hear clearly and communicate data
Supervision and evaluation:
The teacher is supervised and evaluated by the Director of Early Education.
Commitment required:
The commitment for this position varies depending on enrollment and will be communicated upon offer of employment. This is a part-time exempt position.
