Material Test Lab Technician

Job Description

The Material Test Lab Intern supports material characterization activities such as tensile testing, hardness testing, chemical analysis, and thermal/mechanical performance evaluation. The role offers hands‑on experience with lab instruments and data analysis.

• Prepare material samples for testing (cutting, mounting, polishing, labeling).
• Assist in conducting mechanical, thermal, and chemical tests.
• Operate material testing equipment (e.g., tensile machines, hardness testers, microscopes).
• Collect, analyze, and document test data.
• Support failure analysis and material evaluation studies.
• Maintain lab safety procedures and ensure equipment cleanliness.
• Prepare test reports and communicate results to engineers.

• Currently enrolled in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
• Basic understanding of material properties (metals, plastics, composites).
• Interest in laboratory work and scientific testing methods.
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow safety and quality standards.
