DeKalb County Governments Department of Development Services has an immediate opening for a full-time entry level GIS Specialist. This position performs upkeep of DeKalb Countys cadastral data, reviews legal descriptions and surveys that come in for recording and reviews subdivision and addresses.
We are looking for someone with a minimum of an Associates degree in geography or Geographic Information Systems or currently enrolled in a degree program in geography, Geographic Information Science, planning or a minimum of two (2) years work experience in GIS field or any combination of relevant education and experience equivalent to Bachelors degree. Valid drivers license is required.
A successful candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years experience with ESRIs suite of products such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise. Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook) preferred. The GIS Specialist will create, digitize, edit and display GIS data, metadata and land records including but not limited to street infrastructure, tax parcels, subdivisions, sales/conveyance, encumbrance, neighborhoods and addresses.
This position also assists other County offices with pre-review, review and approval or rejection of all deeds or other documents to be recorded containing a legal description to maintain accurate cadastral dataset, researching historical documents as needed. Work hours are Monday - Friday, 8 am to 4 pm (35-hour work week) in office with a flexible lunch. Wages are $20 - $25/hr.
