Some overtime may be required based on production needs

We are currently hiring a dependable and hardworking Material Handler Forklift Operator for a busy manufacturing facility in Auburn, Indiana. This position plays an important role in keeping production running efficiently by ensuring materials are moved safely throughout the plant and operators remain stocked with the supplies they need to complete production orders. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating a forklift as well as performing physical work throughout the shift.

This position is responsible for moving unprocessed foam buns from storage areas to various production lines and transporting completed mattresses from production lines to designated staging or storage locations throughout the facility. Operators will use a specialized sit-down forklift equipped with a conveyor system mounted on the front of the truck. The conveyor functions much like a treadmill and is designed to grab, pull, load, and offload foam buns and mattresses with precision and efficiency.

Because the forklift and conveyor system operate differently than traditional forklifts, candidates must be patient and willing to learn the equipment. Foam products and finished mattresses are delicate and can be easily damaged if handled improperly, so operators must demonstrate excellent control, attention to detail, and finesse when transporting and positioning materials. This is not a high-speed forklift position and requires careful handling to ensure product quality is maintained throughout the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities
  • Operate a specialized sit-down forklift with a front-mounted conveyor system to transport foam buns, mattresses, and materials throughout the facility.
  • Move unprocessed foam buns from storage areas to production lines as needed.
  • Transport completed mattresses from production lines to designated staging, storage, or shipping areas.
  • Load foam buns and mattresses onto the conveyor system and safely transport them to their designated locations.
  • Use the conveyor-equipped forklift to grab, pull, load, and offload foam buns and mattresses efficiently while minimizing product damage.
  • Handle delicate foam products and finished mattresses carefully to prevent damage during transport and placement.
  • Keep production operators supplied with materials needed to maintain continuous workflow.
  • Move, organize, and stage materials throughout the plant.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and relocating materials within the facility.
  • Maintain accurate records of material locations and inventory on the production floor.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Inspect materials for damage and report any issues to supervisors.
Qualifications
  • Previous forklift experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is required.
  • Ability to learn and operate a specialized sit-down forklift with a conveyor attachment.
  • Patience and willingness to learn equipment that operates differently than a standard forklift.
  • Ability to handle delicate foam products and finished mattresses with care and precision.
  • Ability to perform physical work includes lifting, moving, positioning, and organizing materials throughout the shift.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to keep track of materials and locations.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work the full second shift schedule.
  • Must be able to work overtime when production demands increase.
