General Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the mechanical upkeep and maintenance of equipment and facilities. This includes performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and other related tasks using hand tools, power tools, and standard maintenance equipment. Technicians will gain on-the-job experience, and upon completion of 8,000 work hours or 10 years of documented skilled trades experience, they must apply for a Journeyman's card.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Complete required training and continuously develop technical skills.
- Maintain equipment and facilities using standard processes and procedures.
- Perform timely and accurate repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Progress toward gaining a broad skill set, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, PLCs, robotics, blueprint interpretation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
- Flexibly work shifts or overtime as needed.
- Occasionally perform duties outside the standard job description.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of technical background or hands-on experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to participate in a panel interview process.
- Commitment to safety procedures and compliance.
- Willingness to maintain current skills through training and certifications.
- Make decisions based on broad guidelines, particularly regarding equipment maintenance and repair.
- Coordinate with internal and external customers to answer questions and provide support.
- Evaluate the quality of parts and equipment based on test results.
- Collaborate with engineers and management to meet production requirements and support new projects.
- Required to wear steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, and ear protection in the manufacturing area.
- Work in a noisy environment and may be exposed to low levels of dust.
- Maintain awareness of safety regulations, including forklift operations.
- Stand for extended periods.
- Lift up to 30 pounds regularly.
