Responsible for mechanical upkeep of equipment within the facilities and campus. This may include a variety of daily jobs using hand, power, and other tools for repair, preventive maintenance, and maintaining equipment and facilities. For the Maintenance Tech level, this role is in conjunction with on‑the‑job learning and requires 8,000 work hours or 10 years of documented work experience before applying for a Journeyman’s card.
For the Master Mechanic level, a successful candidate must hold a Journey worker’s card and an additional approved specialized course to further job knowledge in the maintenance field.
- Complete required training
- Maintain equipment and facilities using standard processes
- Complete repairs and PMs timely and accurately
- Progress toward gaining a standard skillset (including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, PLCs, robotics, blueprint interpretation, and troubleshooting/problem‑solving skills)
- Change shifts or work overtime
- Perform duties other than those specified in this description on occasion
- Mechanic/Master:
Complete a mold change
- High School Diploma
- 3 years of technical background or experience
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Good communication skills
- Ability to submit to a panel interview process
- Follow safety rules and procedures
- Keep current on applicable compliance and skills trainings
- Make decisions with broad guidelines
- Assign, coordinate, and answer questions for customers (internal/external)
- Make decisions on part quality based on test results
- Work with engineers and manufacturing management on current and new jobs
- Wear steel‑toe shoes, safety glasses, and earplugs in the manufacturing area
- Work in a noisy environment and be exposed to low levels of carbon black dust
- Be aware of all safety regulations and forklift visibility on the work floor
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Lift up to 30 pounds on a regular basis
- All Maintenance Tech qualifications
- 10 years of technical background or experience
- All Maintenance Tech and Maintenance Mechanic qualifications
- Journey worker’s card
- Maintain a minimum score of 80% on the maintenance department skills matrix
