Overview
Connectivity Point Design and Installation is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to support procurement operations for structured cabling, Audio/Visual, and Security projects, as well as general company supplies. This role ensures materials are sourced, ordered, tracked, and delivered to field teams accurately and on schedule. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and capable of managing vendor relationships in a fast-paced technical environment.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary point of contact for project material and supply needs
- Source and purchase materials for structured cabling, AV, security systems, and general operations
- Evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, and availability
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to achieve best value
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term supplier relationships
- Research and onboard new vendors; visit supplier facilities when necessary
- Track orders to ensure on-time delivery and resolve discrepancies
- Process returns and manages overstock inventory appropriately
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, receipts, invoices, and payments
- Review job setup documentation to verify material lists are complete and accurate
- Support inventory control and stock level management
- Follow all company safety policies and report hazards or incidents
- Participate in internal meetings and support cross-functional teams
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 1 year of procurement or purchasing experience
, preferably in construction, IT, telecommunications, or a related technical industry
- Experience with Sage 100 Contractor and inventory management systems preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel skills strongly preferred)
- Working knowledge of inventory control processes
- Strong mathematical and data accuracy skills
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management abilities
- Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Customer-service mindset with a positive, team-oriented attitude
This is a full-time, in-office position based at Connectivity Point's corporate headquarters in Auburn, Maine.
