The Coordinator of Health Promotion develops and manages health and wellness education programs focused on prevention and awareness across the Biddeford and Portland campuses. This position regularly engages with undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to ensure they have access to wellness resources, initiatives, and services at the University of New England. Guided by senior leaders in the Division of Student Affairs, the Coordinator develops and implements an annual wellness plan that introduces students to key aspects of healthy living and promotes a campus environment where healthy choices are supported and encouraged.

Responsibilities
  • Create, deliver, and assess health and wellness initiatives, programs, and services for students, including workshops, tabling events, programs, and fairs that promote the eight dimensions of wellbeing.
  • In partnership with Division leadership, administer and/or evaluate survey results to regularly identify areas of educational priority, which may include, but are not limited to, sexual health, substance use, sleep habits, and fostering connection and belonging.
  • Develop, coordinate, and evaluate media campaigns such as newsletters, emails, social media outreach, and informational signage. Coordinate with other wellness stakeholders to maximize the effectiveness and visibility of marketing efforts.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and management of Peer Health Educators who deliver wellness promotion, education, and support through peer-to-peer interactions.
  • Provide active support for initiatives and programs organized by student clubs, organizations, and Residential Advisors to enhance student participation in health and wellness topics.
  • Support the organization, coordination, and management of the Trailblazer Pre-Orientation Program in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Outdoor Recreation.
  • Deliver targeted health and wellness initiatives for first-year, transfer, graduate, and professional students during orientation, in accordance with directives established by Student Affairs leadership.
  • Participate in an on-call duty rotation with Campus Center and Student Engagement professional staff.
  • Provide support and oversight to student staff while assisting with operational needs within Campus Recreation facilities, particularly during scheduled programs and activities. Respond to emergency situations in accordance with established protocols, as required.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors, Student Affairs staff, and university personnel to coordinate activities, resolve issues, share information, refer students, and address student-related matters.
  • Support the coordination of weekend campus life programs, major student events, and institutional programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in health education, public health, counseling, or a related field, and relevant experience with residential life, peer health programs, or college orientation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective health and wellness initiatives for college students.
  • Experience creating and sharing health and wellness content.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, and advertising software.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.
