Acorn Engineering, Inc., a Maine-based, 100% employee‑owned civil engineering, surveying and landscape architecture firm, has a seasonal, summer opportunity for a Design Engineer Intern in their Portland office.
Responsibilities include assisting with:- stormwater inspections
- regulatory permitting
- construction administration
- Planning Board submissions
- permitting for community solar farms
- floodplain and watershed restoration
- municipal parks including artwork installations
- affordable housing projects throughout the State
Acorn partners with high quality clientele and champions their projects from initial concept, through planning board approval to final completion. This is an exciting opportunity to assist a small (but growing) firm with a variety of tasks. Please note that this is not a hybrid position and requires the selected candidate to be in‑person, five days a week in our Portland office.
- Current Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering with a concentration on water resources
- Strong technical and engineering design skills
- Proficiency in Auto Cad Civil 3D & HydroCAD
- Understanding of Local, Maine and Federal permitting regulations and applications
- Understanding of stormwater treatment design
- Valid driver’s license required
