Police Municipal Responsibilities
Under the responsibility of the Mayor, the municipal police officer:
- Exercises administrative and judicial police missions within the mayor's competence in matters of prevention and surveillance of public order, tranquility, security, and cleanliness.
- Ensures the execution of the mayor's police orders.
- Constates by minutes the contraventions to these orders as well as to the provisions of codes and laws for which it is competent.
Main duties:
- Ensure general surveillance of the communal territory.
- Apply and control the respect of the mayor's police powers in all its dimensions, in a spirit of intervention and initiative.
- Enforce municipal orders.
- Monitor, observe, and issue fines for infractions related to the stop and parking of vehicles.
- Secure pedestrian crossings on public roads.
- Monitor safety around school areas.
- Ensure a close relationship with the population, inform, and conduct prevention actions towards users of the public road.
- Monitor the cleanliness of places and illegal dumps.
- Prevent, advise, and dissuade users in matters of cleanliness of roads and public spaces.
- Constate infractions to sanitary regulations related to the cleanliness of public spaces.
- Management of urban police.
- Ensure the management of missions related to cemeteries.
- Ensure the management of the outdoor market.
- Management of the impounding of vehicles.
- Management of the impounding of abandoned animals.
- Management of video surveillance.
- Organization and management of the security of events.
- Management and follow-up of circulation orders, work orders, and various safety orders.
- Coordination with various external partners, particularly the gendarmerie.
Additional duties:
- Management of the material organization of certain events.
- Management of inventories of rooms and minibus.
Professional skills:
- Know the powers of the Mayor.
- Know the actors and stakeholders in security and prevention.
- Know and apply techniques of communication, conflict management, mediation, and techniques of interpellation.
- Apply techniques to neutralize dangerous individuals and animals.
- Master the functioning of public administrations and establishments, instances, decision-making processes, and circuits.
- Know how to report in writing and orally.
- Know how to draft orders, minutes, reports, and minutes of infractions.
- Know how to quickly analyze a situation.
- Master basic computer tools.
