Woodworker​/Craftsperson

In 1972, Tom Moser committed his life to craft. His mission was to establish a community that would allow craftsmen to make a living doing the work they loved. Today, in our 80,000 square foot Auburn facility, that community comprises some 50 fine craftsmen and women who are designers and makers of functionally driven, handmade furniture of the highest quality in both materials and woodworking expertise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Understanding of woodworking techniques, including solid wood and other materials, methods and tools involved in the creation of component parts and the assembly of high-end custom furniture.
• Must communicate cross-functional problems to other associates, supervisors and departments.
• Inspect parts for color, quality and fit prior to assembly and throughout the process and can correct defective components.
• Will be expected to grind seats and profile backs with consistency, sand parts and sub-assemblies, joint drawers and parts, level chairs, build or assist in building and improving jigs, and perform minor and major repairs and touchups.
• The Craftsperson may be asked to train and instruct other employees in the art of Cabinetmaking.
• Work cross-functionally to assist in other departments or areas of the plant as needed, based on the mix of furniture being sold.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, job tickets, assembly instructions, procedures manuals, shop drawings and blueprints.
• Maintain a clean work area that helps ensure safe work practices and further supports a professional work environment and high-quality standards.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Attention to detail/quality conscious
• Can adapt to change and be willing to be innovative
• Ability to use and maintain basic hand tools and measure accurately
• Prior cabinetmaking experience is preferred, but not essential
• Ability to seek clarity in communications with others
• Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solutions and solve problems
