The school nurse is a registered professional nurse certified with the Maine Department of Education working in the school setting who strengthens and facilitates the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of children. The major focus of school nursing services is the prevention of illness and disability, and the early detection and correction of health problems. The school nurse is uniquely qualified in preventative health, health assessment, and referral procedures.

This is a school year position, 183 days per year, excellent benefits including sick time and health insurance. Salary is based on education and experience.

• Possession of a current license to practice professional nursing in Maine.
• Experience as a professional registered nurse.
• Maine Department of Education School Nurse Certification #524.
• A baccalaureate degree is preferred; if a candidate lacks a BS degree when applying for certification, additional considerations may apply.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
