And judging by this moment with our Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, Ormond Hamilton, we’re inclined to agree.

The feathered friend perched alongside him is Bird — yes, that really is his name — who belongs to our CEO, Jeanine Loewen. And while Bird may not officially be on the Mira Vista team, he seems pretty comfortable around the people who are.

The work we do in behavioral health is important. It can be challenging, demanding and deeply meaningful. But woven into that work are the moments in between — the conversations in the hallway, the laughter between colleagues, the people who check in on one another and, every now and then, an unexpected visitor who makes everyone stop and smile.

Those moments matter because they say something about the character of a workplace.
