Meat Clerk Part Time

Job Summary

Receives, rotates, wraps, and merchandises fresh and processed meats. Assists in merchandising seafood, rotisserie chickens, prepared foods, and cheeses. Provides assistance to members by answering questions and recommending products. Maintains all cleaning and safety standards within the meat department.

• Weigh, package, wrap, and label cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood, including grinds.
• Assist the meat cutter in packaging freshly cut meats and seafood.
• May grind hamburger meat.
• Inspect and store meat upon delivery to ensure quality standards.
• Ensure meat, seafood, prepared foods, and cheese cases are fully stocked.
• Rotate products according to expiration dates.
• Follow established guidelines when disposing of damaged or expired products.
• Receive and unpack meat, poultry, seafood, prepared foods, and cheeses in the cooler and freezer.
• Clean and sanitize all equipment and display fixtures.
• Maintain club policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments.

• Previous experience working with fresh and processed meats preferred.
• Knowledge of automatic/hand wrapping machines preferred.
• Prior experience working in a meat and/or deli department preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.

Most of the time is spent moving about frequently on hard surfaces. May need to bend, pull, reach, or stoop. Frequently lifts objects up to 30 pounds. May lift and move heavy or awkward objects over 30 pounds with assistance. Work takes place in a comfortable indoor area with infrequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises. Occasional exposure to cleaning agents.

Pay range: $16.75 - $20.10 per hour.
