Location: Auburn, NY
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 4x10-Hour Days (08:00 – 18:00)
Job Summary:A 179-bed non-profit facility in the Finger Lakes region, is seeking a high-functioning OR RN for a 13-week assignment. This facility serves as a "Sole Community Provider," offering a wide range of surgical services including General, Orthopedic, Thoracic, and Urology. You will be part of a team that handles both inpatient surgeries and outpatient procedures in a newly renovated surgical suite.
KeyResponsibilities
- Surgical Circulating/Scrubbing: Support diverse service lines including Thoracic (lobe/lung resections), Orthopedics (total joints, spinal fusions), and Urology (prostatectomies, cystoscopies).
- Universal Protocol: Consistently lead and participate in "Time Out" procedures to ensure patient safety and site verification.
- Safety & Compliance: Manage laser and radiation safety protocols, specimen handling, and infection control standards within the sterile field.
- Equipment Mastery: Operate specialized surgical equipment including Cell Savers, laparoscopic/robotic towers, and orthopedic instrumentation.
- Telemetry Proficiency: While primarily an OR role, you must be capable of cardiac rhythm interpretation for any telemetry patients under your care.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of OR experience (within the last year).
- Licensure: Active New York State (NYS) RN License.
- Certifications: * BLS (Required)
- ACLS (Highly Preferred)
- NIHSS (Required)
- Technical Skills:
Experience with Allscripts or Paragon (EMR) is preferred; training on Paragon is provided.
On Day 1, all travel nurses must pass a Telemetry Assessment with a score of 80% or higher.
- Topics: Heart blocks, paced rhythms, arrhythmias, and normal interval durations (PR, QRS, QT).
- Requirement: Nurses are responsible for independently measuring and interpreting strips as there are no telemetry technicians on staff.
- Remediation: If the first test is failed, an educational PowerPoint is provided before a second attempt during the first week.
- Total Weekly Hours: 40 Hours (Guaranteed).
- Schedule: 4 days per week; no block scheduling.
- Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and every other holiday required.
- Floating: Required per facility needs.
- RTO: All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application.
JOB Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience:
Minimum 1 year of OR experience (within the last year).
- Licensure:
Active New York State (NYS) RN License.
- Certifications:

Skills:
