ICU Nurse, RN Nurse
Step-Down Registered Nurse
Step-Down Registered Nurse position available in a critical care step-down unit. The role requires 2+ years of recent Step-Down experience. 36 hours guaranteed with every other weekend and holiday rotation. Local candidates are accepted. Patient ratio is 1:4-5. Unit diagnoses include Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), post-heart catheterization, post-vascular procedures, respiratory failure (BiPAP/CPAP/Vapotherm), and cardiac dysrhythmias. Unit procedures include post-heart cath care, TR band management, and frequent vital signs and neurovascular checks.
Required skills include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation. Experience in IV start and maintenance, PICC line management, blood product administration, and emergency medications is necessary. The nurse will assist with chest tube insertion and removal, and manage cardiac drips and neurological emergencies like acute stroke. Infection prevention and isolation precautions are vital aspects of the role. The unit supports interdisciplinary collaboration with various services, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy.
Candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced environment and possess strong critical thinking skills. Preference will be given to those with previous charge experience.
