PositionUtility Billing Account Representative. The City of Auburn Finance Department seeks a front‑facing representative to perform accounting, clerical, and customer service tasks for utility billing.
Work ScheduleMonday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an hour for lunch.
Responsibilities- Explain special billing and service programs to customers (e.g., winter averaging, low‑income assistance, solid waste/recycling programs) and determine eligibility as per guidelines.
- Update and maintain accurate account information in the customer information system.
- Perform cashiering duties for utility payments, miscellaneous accounts receivable, and document transactions and adjusting journal entries.
- Open and close accounts for city utilities, request, verify, and change information as needed.
- Graduation from high school supplemented by college coursework in accounting or equivalent.
- Two years closely related work experience, or a combination of education, experience, and training that would indicate the ability to accomplish the primary functions above.
- Excellent time‑management and ability to prioritize workloads.
- Office experience in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong customer‑service background.
- Municipal experience.
- Utility billing experience.
- College coursework in accounting or similar field.
- Experience using Springbrook.
