Position

Utility Billing Account Representative. The City of Auburn Finance Department seeks a front‑facing representative to perform accounting, clerical, and customer service tasks for utility billing.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an hour for lunch.

Responsibilities
  • Explain special billing and service programs to customers (e.g., winter averaging, low‑income assistance, solid waste/recycling programs) and determine eligibility as per guidelines.
  • Update and maintain accurate account information in the customer information system.
  • Perform cashiering duties for utility payments, miscellaneous accounts receivable, and document transactions and adjusting journal entries.
  • Open and close accounts for city utilities, request, verify, and change information as needed.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from high school supplemented by college coursework in accounting or equivalent.
  • Two years closely related work experience, or a combination of education, experience, and training that would indicate the ability to accomplish the primary functions above.
  • Excellent time‑management and ability to prioritize workloads.
  • Office experience in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong customer‑service background.
  • Municipal experience.
  • Utility billing experience.
  • College coursework in accounting or similar field.
  • Experience using Springbrook.
