The Project Manager directs daily activities of various construction projects from start to finish. Responsibilities include scheduling, ordering materials, allocating equipment, working directly with prime/sub-contractors, running interference with various agency employees (project engineers, project inspectors, etc.), reading/understanding construction specifications, and comprehension of WA L&I, OSHA/legislative regulations. Successful Project Managers exemplify organizational and time-management skills.
Job Duties- Determine needed resources (labor, equipment, materials, etc.) from start to finish with high attention to budgetary limitations
- Evaluate progress of project.
- Oversee subcontracting of specialized craftwork
- Inspect work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications
- Analyze plan-sets, specifications, proposals, and other construction documents to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for bidding construction projects
- Prepare preliminary estimates for planning purposes
- Detail itemized estimates based on final plans and specifications
- Vocational or apprenticeship training supplemented with 3-5 years of construction leadership experience, or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Construction Management preferred but not required
- Ability to analyze and interpret construction plan-sets and specifications
- Ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with WA L&I, OSHA standards
- Proficient MS Office
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
